Bright Oak Programs

Class Age Ranges

We believe a child’s learning progression is unique to their own abilities and experiences. Our full-day programs are designed to not only support your child through their developmental milestones, but to also prepare them for their educational journey to Kindergarten and beyond!

Acorns + Rolling Acorns
(Infants, 6 weeks – 12 months)

Providing a warm, nurturing environment where your baby can learn and grow.

Your baby is your most precious gift and we know leaving them in someone else’s care is a big step. At Bright Oak, we are honored to be a part of their journey from the very beginning and we make every effort to ensure a smooth transition for you and your family!

Our infant program is designed to offer a loving and nurturing environment that honors your family’s routine and delivers a level of care that exceeds that of a daycare. Bright Oak’s highly trained teachers are committed to your child’s developmental needs and will partner with you to ensure his or her success.

Through this program, your infant will be introduced to sensory exploration, stories and books, light and reflection displays, music and instruments, rich language, and gross motor activities to encourage their physical and cognitive growth. The infant program provides an environment with abundant opportunities for your child to explore and understand his or her immediate world.

Sprouts, Seedlings & Saplings
(Toddlers, 12–24 months)

Encouraging toddlers to explore their environment with curiosity and growing independence.

Your toddler is on the go and becoming more active and independent as he or she begins exploring the wondrous world around them. Toddlers are beginning to express themselves and their gross motor skills are rapidly developing.

Our teachers will provide toddlers with engaging materials and experiences that will foster language development, gross and fine motor skills, emotional development, and self help skills. The Reggio Emilia approach utilizes the environment as the third teacher which allows toddlers to learn from their surroundings. Toddler classrooms are filled with natural materials, musical instruments, art and sensory play, puzzles, cause and effect manipulatives, dramatic play, literacy experiences, and opportunities for independence.

The toddler program will nurture your child as they develop into young learners. Teachers will foster their innate curiosities and provide a warm environment where children can confidently explore their exciting world.

Tiny Oaks (Early Preschool, 2–3 years)

Engaging students through play and exploration to become lifelong learners.

To enter the Tiny Oaks program, children must be 2 years old on or before September 1st to align them with the start of CCSD Kindergarten upon graduation from our program.

Your two-year-old is exploring new things in his or her world, learning to communicate verbally, and beginning to develop essential social skills. With this in mind, each classroom is designed to encourage learning through play – guiding your child through age-appropriate learning experiences. Play is essential for child development in that it supports socializing, learning, creative problem solving, motor development, and expressing thoughts and emotions.

The environment itself provides many opportunities for students to actively engage in play and learning. Examples include blocks and construction with recycled materials, sensory tables with sand and water, imaginative play areas such as a kitchen, cozy reading areas, outdoor exploration, movement activities, and a variety of art materials.

Our Reggio-inspired curriculum helps inspire curiosity and imagination in a way that is unique to your child’s individual interests. Through these experiences, teachers incorporate elements of math, science, literacy, and language to promote your child’s cognitive development. Your two year old is also becoming more independent, and our teachers will work closely with families to promote your child’s self help skills such as handwashing, using utensils appropriately, dressing, and potty training.

Tall Oaks (Preschool, 3–4 years)

Cultivating discovery through inquiry.

To enter the Tall Oaks program, children must be potty trained and 3 years old on or before September 1st to align them with the start of CCSD Kindergarten upon graduation from our program.

Your preschooler is growing fast and eager to learn new things. They have a natural curiosity to explore, ask questions, wonder, and experiment, and our teachers at Bright Oak are here to facilitate this through our child-led curriculum. Drawing from the children’s interests, teachers present information and materials in the classroom that influence exploration and discovery, cause and effect, problem solving, making observations and drawing conclusions. The children in the classroom are encouraged to be active agents in their construction of knowledge.

Discovery supports all areas of cognitive development, and your child will be learning through their daily explorations. They will be learning concepts like letter and number recognition, counting, sorting, identifying emotions, and basic directional skills. Your three year old’s language is blossoming, and they are exposed to varieties of literature, books, dramatic play, music, and storytelling that fosters their communication skills.

While your child learns through discovery, their physical development is also progressing rapidly. Three year olds are becoming more daring, and our curriculum promotes their gross and fine motor skills, developing their confidence in abilities, and improving their coordination. A large focus is placed on teaching self-awareness and fostering independence by helping your child master their self-help skills. Students are also learning to engage with peers, share and take turns, and manage conflict.

Grand Oaks (Pre-Kindergarten, 4–5 years)

Nurturing skills in core academic areas through emergent curriculum to ensure school readiness.

To enter the Grand Oaks program, children must be 4 years old on or before September 1st to align them with the start of CCSD Kindergarten upon graduation from our program.

The ultimate goal at Bright Oak Preschool Academy is to prepare your child for kindergarten and beyond. Through our emergent curriculum, teachers incorporate scientific inquiry, early literacy, and math opportunities that naturally fall into place around the children’s interests.

Core academic areas are infused as children construct their own knowledge through investigation and discovery. Children will enhance their listening and speaking skills as well as pre-reading and writing abilities including phonemic awareness, phonics skills, predicting and re-telling story sequences, sharing ideas and asking inquisitive questions, and enhancing vocabulary. Mathematical and problem solving skills such as counting and quantifying, sequencing and patterning, measurement and comparison, and basic addition and subtraction are infused through investigations. Scientific thinking and visual arts expand your child’s cognitive development as they are encouraged to make their thinking visible. Teachers facilitate this process by providing opportunities for drawing, painting, using 3-D materials for creativity, and storytelling. Through visual arts, children use their own language to describe what they are learning.

Your four year old is full of energy and excitement and our teachers will foster this through engaging provocations, outdoor exploration, music and movement, and social emotional development through play. As your child develops relationships in the classroom, teachers are teaching empathy, self-confidence, and emotional regulation. Our teachers foster an environment of collaboration, respect, and community which will nurture your child as they become lifelong learners.
